Well it's been a long time coming, but there's a new Golden Retriever LP soon to be borne out into the world in embodied form via Thrill Jockey Records of Chicago Illinois. It's called "Seer" and it has five songs recorded over the course of July 2012 to about March of last year. The record presents some steps forward for us in terms of composition/songwriting, branching out to using some new instruments and different approaches: polyphonic keyboard playing, just intonation, sampler instruments, field recordings, drum machines, etc. That said it still sounds very recognizable as us and is not a gesture of self-consciously changing directions. We're kind of always trying to find ways of making what we do feel new and interesting to us without just turning it into a different band.
Anyway, you can now pre-order or just read some more about the record over at the Thrill Jockey site.
